What defines value?
For writers, this is a question we must ask frequently. How do we write things that will have value for our readers?
Value can mean many things. There’s literary value, popular value, sentimental value, monetary value. Some of these matter more to some writers than others. Some of us just want to write to make ourselves happy, and to share our work with a few friends and family members. Some of want to write something that’s timeless, that could go intio the canon of literature, something that will be read by classrooms. Some of us look forward to the day we can see our work on a “Best” list. And then some of just want to make a living off of our writing. And then, for some of us, it’s combination of all of these, with a few other motivations thrown in.
But at the end of the day, most of us just want to write something that others can appreciate. We want to add value.
Lists don’t really matter to me. The reader does. I want to connect with them in a way that has them thinking about the story, the characters long after they’re done with the book.

For my blog writing, I would love for people to think that grammar isn’t so scary after all. 🙂
