For all my complaining over the heat and humidity around here, I start wondering if it’s all worth it when fall rolls around. Autumn in the Smokies will take your breath away. It’s not without good reason that the color changes along the East coast are so famous — and why songs, poems, books (and blog posts) about its scenery will never stop being written. I know I for once will never cease to be fascinated by the range of jewel tones leaves can take on in the fall around here.
I took this picture at Lake Junaluska Conference Center, not foo far from the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. If you’re looking for a place to admire fall colors, I highly recommend the Parkway.
The parkway is beautiful, and the Triangle is starting to get fall colors, too – I just spent three days there for a convention. Sadly, the colors haven’t quite blossomed yet here in the coastal region – but they’re coming!

Yes, it is! Unfortunately, it tends to be so short-lived here, especially when we get near-freezing days all in a row like we are now. I love the cold, but I know it’ll chase the colors away faster, so I’m torn on how to feel about it! Hope you enjoyed your time in the Triangle…and happy Fall to you!

Thank you! Today the trees are just about there . . . full fall colors are just days away!
